holiday treats

nantucket cranberry pie…snickerdoodle cookies…white chocolate covered popcorn…mmm…i love holiday eating…

some blessed, amazing, fantastic, stupendous, ambitious, adventurous, outstanding people have been sending baskets of goodies to my office this week…which inspired this post & my new Holiday theme party:

run & feast party

this is where the group will meet for a nice 3 – 6 mile run then head over to a house & gorge on holiday treats. yes, it shall be grand. since i’ve already eaten my way thru this year though – let’s wait till next year to start the running madness. happy eating.

winter is here

so i went from summer to fall & for some reason my mind & body stopped there…i have not been anticipating winter/Christmas/etc.  this past week has made me wrinkle my nose as it just wasn’t expected…so very, very, very, very, very – cold.  in light of this, here is my list for this week:

things that make Christmas more real (in addition to the Son of God being born):

1. starbucks date with lindz & natalie

2. coming home to my roommate decorating the tree

3. running with not enough layers on in the arctic

4. replenishing my stock of hot cocoa (for my friends that enjoy that sort of thing) and apple cider (for me)

5. pulling out my winter coat

6. Christmas shopping for kids

7. listening to the random songs of the season that they sneak in (of which i do love to blast & scream at the top of my lungs!)

8. walking into starbucks while they played josh groban’s holiday music

9. wishing i was on a beach – i know, i don’t get why that makes it more real but it does

10. preparing to make a nantucket cranberry pie by the pioneer woman…it’s so very festive

i hope you get some time to enjoy this season…i think we’re in it for a while now :)

things to do

i decided to be bold. adventurous. i went running last night. outside. in san antonio. clarity comes to mind as you breathe in (even if it is the fumes of the trolley’s). i’ve decided to make a top 5 list – of the top things i must do while i’m in town:

tree by alamo

5. rivercenter mall
turns out there is a mall nearby!! oh glorious day!!! alright, so i’m not the most enthusiastic shopper in reality, however, when it comes to working it seems that shopping helps my mind decompress from the day.

la villita entrance

4. la villita historic district
this is just as it sounds – a historic district. there are many shops as well as REAL mexican food (you can’t even imagine how difficult finding a non-tex-mex restaurant is!)

don't forget

3. the manger hotel
historic hotel located about 200 feet from the alamo. it has the southern charm that is so endearing.

2. soho wine & martini bar
i love going to little cute mod places & this has pictures that draw you in. hopefully the wine selection will be just as nice.

tower of the americas

1. the tower of the america’s
for more than 35 years, the 750-foot-tall tower of the americas has offered residents and tourists of san antonio, texas, the most breathtaking view of the alamo city – visitors dine at the tower’s revolving restaurant or enjoy the scenery from the observation deck. ok so i hate heights, but i’m so very excited for this for some reason – perhaps because i’m dreaming of seattle still…

this list may be added to later, but these 5 things i will enjoy either this week or the last week i’m here in october. i’ve already been to the manger hotel (or inside the lobby that is) so i’m crossing it off my list…a great start so far

awesome waterfalls under the tower

i may add more later…these are just what were on the forefront. did we connect somewhere? what’s your favorite time together?

route 66

in one week 4 days, i will be short of breathe.  yep, and i call it fun.  how sick is that??  ha!

it’s the route 66 marathon – of which we’ve put together a team of 5 & are relaying it. hooray! for the fact that i have the 6.5 miles of flat land.  my wonderful 3 friends from edmond have the hills.

i’m grinning because i don’t think all of them know they have the hills.  :)

i’m even more excited because yesterday, just prior to my knees almost going out, i bought a new pair of sleek pink shoes.  extra cushion.  the cadiliac  of running shoes.    i hope they have wings on them too really.  didn’t see that on the description but i’m sure they come with wings.  my brother gave me a gift certificate to zappos.com & so i didn’t have to break the bank on them either which also makes them amazing.

so if you’re not doing much on the 22nd please come out & cheer us on.  we’re going to need it!!
